About a year and half ago, when we were still fairly early in our journey with this COVID pandemic, many, many people were starting to get frustrated with the news, government policies, and other issues that were affecting our lives. We weren’t getting consistency from news sources or our leaders in government. There were regular changes in the stances and policies relating to COVID almost on a daily basis!
So back then I shared with you a devotional based on something God was driving deep into my heart and mind at the time. I shared with you a reminder that no matter how much life swirls around us in change, how unstable our world becomes, our God never changes. His being, His character, His promises do not change. One passage I shared with you was Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Today I want to revisit this truth of God not changing again because, well, something else is changing again! Brothers and sisters, we have decided that we need to discontinue this current schedule and format for these devotionals.
What started as an everyday occurrence during the initial COVID shutdown, eventually moving to a twice a week occurrence, and most recently a twice a month occurrence, has served a valuable purpose. The pastors and ministers on staff have thoroughly enjoyed preparing and delivering these devotionals to you over the last almost two years now, and we have been seriously encouraged by your feedback to them. But as in-person gatherings have returned almost to pre-COVID levels now, we are sensing the need to make this change.
Another passage I shared before was from James 1:17 “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” Remember, friends, that even though we’re making this change, our God never changes. He’s always good, all the time. And please know we’re not letting up on ministry here at Cornerstone either. We’re as busy as ever, and so glad that more and more of it involves our physical presence with one another.
And we’re not completely done with devotionals like this either. You’ll most likely find links to devotionals in your inbox in the days leading up to Easter and Christmas this year. And we may send one out for a special occasion periodically as well.
Thanks so very much, dear friends, for engaging with us on these devotionals since the first one on March 19, 2020, to this final one, at least in the current schedule, today. And again, though we’re making this change, aren’t you glad that our God never, ever changes?
